Govee is back with another way to make your house look like it belongs in a holiday lighting commercial, only this time you get considerably more control over what those lights are actually doing. The new Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro introduce independently controlled dual-layer illumination, allowing homeowners to create two different lighting effects from a single light unit.
The key to the new system is Govee’s ColorZone Solution, which divides each light into independently controlled color zones. Instead of having an entire string produce one color or effect, users can combine colors and ambient tones to create gradients, wall-washing effects, and architectural highlights across eaves, facades, decks, and other outdoor spaces. Rather than permanently committing your house to Christmas red and green, the same installation can be used for Halloween, sporting events, parties, everyday accent lighting, or whatever color combination fits your mood.
Govee is also simplifying color customization with its LuminBlend+ Color Management System and AI Lighting Bot 2.0. Users can describe the lighting style they want, with the AI system generating customized dual-layer effects. There are also eight preset “Iconic Wonders” effects inspired by natural landscapes for anyone who would rather pick a design than start creating one from scratch.
For a permanent outdoor installation, durability is obviously just as important as pretty colors. The light strings carry an IP68 waterproof rating and are designed to handle rain, snow, and extreme temperatures for year-round use. Installation gets some attention as well. Independent-control Y connectors allow split light strings to produce completely different lighting effects after branching, which should make the system easier to adapt to homes with less-than-simple layouts.
The Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 Pro are available now from Govee and Amazon. The 100-foot kit costs $499.99, while the 200-foot version runs $799.99, with introductory discounts of $100 and $150 off, respectively, through September 18.
At those prices, this isn’t exactly an impulse purchase for adding a few lights to the porch. But for homeowners already considering permanent outdoor lighting, Govee’s dual-layer approach gives the system considerably more creative flexibility than simply changing the color of a string of LEDs.
